Sometimes You Need a Big Stick

Dear Writer Working Through Revisions,

My, you're looking attractive. That frizzy hair? Those red-rimmed eyes? Adorable. Simply adorable.

I know your brain feels like mush. I know having conversations with other human beings is tricky. You've put so many words on paper, how can you be expected to speak them too? In a cohesive order, nonetheless? This is a challenging task indeed.

Take heart, my friend. I have a suggestion to de-mush your brain. And the hair? Well, that will remain frizzy. Shut your laptop and go outside. You can do it. Just for five minutes, even. Take a walk. Preferably with a big stick. Your brain will thank you.

Sincerely,

Fellow Writer Working Through Revisions

(Me with Big Stick)

Ha! Loved this. From one curly haired girl to another - your hair looks lovely! :)

I deleted my last comment because of a dumb grammar mistake. You would think that I would know to proof my comment before I hit send.

I feel your revision pain--and can totally relate to the frizzy hair, red-eyed syndrome. Good luck revising! :)

I share your pain. I've just finished a round of edits. Good luck.

Wait, what's that bright light? Arghh, daylight. It burns! :)

Julie Jarnagin: Thanks, fellow curl tamer!

Kristi Helvig and Lindsay: Haha, glad to know I'm not alone!

In addition to your big stick, don't forget the jaunty scarf!

You look pretty good in that photo! At least you're wearing real clothes which is more than I can say when I do revisions! :)

I adore going outside for a walk, but what's the purpose of the big stick? ;)

Hey there. I'm dropping by from KarenG's BBQ. It's fun to meet another fellow writer. Cheers!

So funny! My hair doesn't go frizzy, more like straight and dull, calling for the ubiquitous headband, reserved for extreme writing and gardening sessions.

Oh my. I knew I was missing something when doing revisions! Now I realise - it's all about the big stick. Hee!

I'm here from Karen's BBQ blog party - pleased to 'meet' you!

Haha, yes, totally recommend the big stick! Thanks for visiting, guys!

Thanks for stopping by. I'm now following you. What a great BBQ! And, hey, you're close to 100. Hope you get there this weekend!!

I agree. I need to take a long walk to de-mush my brain, but I must find a stick.

Yeah, like Jennifer said "but what's the purpose of the big stick? "

I'm in the same boat with you! I just finished the biggest revision of my life so far and it consumed me. I'm not sure I saw the sun for nearly a month. Take a walk, great advice! I'd add, try to take one every day. It clears the mind and helps one form full sentences. ;-)

Fun post! I agree--outings can do wonders. I love going for a run or walking my dogs when I need to clear my brain. Doing something with my kids always perks me up, too.

You look super cute in the pic! I really like your hair! :)

Good luck with those revisions! (And hope you don't need a bigger stick!) :)

Haha, thanks all! It's hard to explain, but a stick just makes a walk so much better. :)

(congrats on being done.;)
